Island Day Trip at Lazaruz Island

Singapore is known for its busy streets, MRTs, dazzling and colorful lights during night time. And when if you been staying in Singapore for a year or more, you might be want to get out from this business and just chill in a calm place.

Recently, my friends invited me to go on an Island Hopping and I thought if you say “Island Hopping” this would cost me a lot or maybe far from the city of Singapore. But I am shocked that there is really a place near the city where I could get to experience a white beach and get to along with nature and that is at Lazarus Island.

Lazarus Island is just a walking distance from St. John Island. These islands are two of the eight Southern Islands of Singapore and it is just a 30-minute trip away or 15 mins from Sentosa. These islands are just so perfect if you want to get away from the busy and hassle feels of the city.

Here’s everything you need to know to plan your day at Lazarus Island and St John’s Island!

How to get there.  St. John’s Island and Lazarus Island is a 45-minute journey from Marina South Pier (nearest MRT: Marina South Pier Exit B). There are two ferry services you can book with — Marina South Ferries and Singapore Island Cruise.

We took Marina South Ferries to St. John’s Island and began our day there. It took us about 10 minutes to Lazarus Island over a 100-meter paved causeway.

Things to do in the Island. Well, there are a bunch of activities you can do in the island, from getting up close with marine life to camping out by the waters. The following are some of the things you can do in the Islan

💛 Explore the island’s flora and fauna - The St. John’s Island trail spans 2.8km with 15 stations to learn about the flora and fauna in the area. The trail takes you through the island’s rich biodiversity from mangroves to coastal forests to even some of Singapore’s Heritage Trees!

💛Go camping. Everyone can enjoy the also by go camping with friend with your barbeque station and chill music background.

💛Paddle Board or Kayaking. You can’t rent kayak board in the island but you can bring one.

💛Swimming. Of course, what is a beach without swimming? Just enjoy the water and white sand

Tips for your trip to Lazarus island

💚Don’t forget sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, an umbrella, a water bottle with lots of water, and a packed lunch as there are no shops or restaurants on either island.

💚 Bring mosquito repellant 

💚There are small stores at Marina South Pier ferry terminal before your trip for you to pick up essentials   like water.

💚 Lazarus Island and St. John’s Islands are for the most part quite stroller- and wheelchair-friendly.

💚There are officially no toilets however one reader spotted one toilet near the walkway connecting Lazarus Island and St John’s Island.

💚 Please take your rubbish home with you and help keep Lazarus Island beach pristine!

However at other times Lazarus Island beach has been beautifully clean so perhaps it depends on the tides and if your fellow picnickers have cleaned up after themselves. Bring large plastic bags and gloves yourself and get the kiddos involved in a beach clean up first to do your good deed and then enjoy the clean beach (remember to dispose of the collected garbage in a responsible manner!)
